Frequently Asked Questions
What should brides look for in their makeup artist?
Experience, professionalism and skill set. You want someone that is going to make you look and feel beautiful. They are going to be with you on your big day and you want to feel comfortable with them and excited to see the beautiful makeup they will create for you.
How should I prepare for the trial?
Most trials take place at our South Hill studio but we can also travel to the comfort of your home. Trials take about 90 minutes and include anything you want to try (airbrush, lashes, etc.) Please arrive with a clean face and a wear a light colored shirt. During this time we will discuss details of your wedding so bringing any color samples, photos of your dress, bridesmaid dresses and flowers is always helpful. Also, any inspiration photos of makeup you love is great too!
What products do you use?
All the products I use in my kit and tried and true and always of the highest quality. For weddings, I use a lot of long wearing products (products designed to last 10-16 hours that won't smudge, crease or sweat off) and I always use water-proof mascara and eyeliner. NARS, MAC, Makeup Forever, Ingot, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Temtpu and my favorite. Temptu Pro is the line of airbrush products I use that creates a lightweight healthy glow on the skin. It has a buildable coverage, is water resistant and will wear for hours without any touch-ups!
When should I schedule a trial?
Makeup trials can be done anytime before the wedding. I usually recommend at least 3 months before so the bride can get a feel for her total look. If you are planning on getting married during wedding season (May-October) the sooner the better due to the high volume of weddings. Many brides like to use their engagement photos or bridal shower as an opportunity to do the trial as well.
How long does each application take?
We allot 1 hour for bridal makeup and 45 minutes for bridesmaids and mothers.
How should I prepare for my wedding day?
Hydrate!! I can't emphasize this enough. Drink a ton of water and moisture day and night. Stay away from wearing a lot of makeup the weeks leading up to keep your skin clear and always wear an SPF 30 or higher. Also, FACIALS!! I always recommend starting a new regiment at least 4-6 months before the wedding. Waxing or hair removal should take place 5-7 days before the wedding. Dermaplaning is my absolute favorite! It’s a method of exfoliation that uses a scalpel to remove dead skin cells and annoying peach fuzz from your skin leaving a smooth, brighter complexion. It also allows your skincare products to penetrate deeper and leaves a smooth, flawless surface for your makeup to go on to. A MUST DO prior to the wedding day. Spray tans are recommended 1-2 days before the wedding.
Will you travel and is there a fee?
Yes, I do travel. I am based in Spokane so anything outside of the Spokane Metropolitan area will incur a travel fee of $1/per mile traveled. These fees cover mileage and total time traveled. Destination weddings include airfare, hotel accommodations, daily per diem and checked baggage fees. These options and fees will be discussed and agreed upon prior to contractual agreement.
How do I book my wedding day?
In order to secure your wedding date, a signed contract and $100 deposit is required. The deposit acts as a retainer fee and is deducted from you total due the day of the wedding. Once both items are received the day is officially yours!
